The slenderness ratio, also referred to as the height-to-diameter ratio (h/d ratio), is the ratio of tree height (H) to diameter at breast height (DBH = d). The greater the quotient of height and DBH, the higher the slenderness ratio. It serves as an indicator of stability, susceptibility to windthrow, and stand structure.
